RESUMEN

Objetivo: determinar la frecuencia de complicaciones posteriores a la extracci�n dental y su asociaci�n con enfermedades cr�nicas en personas adscritas a la Unidad de Medicina Familiar no. 26, imss, de Acapulco, Guerrero, M�xico. M�todos: estudio transversal anal�tico, realizado de abril a agosto de 2017. Se realiz� un muestreo no probabil�stico por conveniencia de 112 pacientes, mayores de 18 a�os, de ambos sexos, con criterios cl�nicos para extracci�n dental. Se excluyeron pacientes con discapacidad psicomotora, enfermedad renal en estadio IV y V o que estuvieran en tratamiento con radioterapia y quimioterapia. Se eliminaron pacientes que no acudieron a su cita posterior a la extracci�n. Se aplic� una encuesta sobre datos sociodemogr�ficos, comorbilidad asociada e higiene oral; la comorbilidad se corrobor� en el expediente electr�nico. En la exploraci�n oral se obtuvo el motivo de extracci�n dental, tipo y n�mero de diente. Se les cit� siete d�as despu�s de la extracci�n para detectar complicaciones. Se realiz� an�lisis bivariado, la estimaci�n se expres� en or, intervalos de confianza (ic) de 95% y valor p. Resultados: la principal causa de extracci�n dental fue la caries. La frecuencia de complicaci�n por extracci�n dental fue de 12.5%. No se encontr� asociaci�n entre complicaci�n y enfermedad cr�nica como diabetes e hipertensi�n arterial. Conclusi�n: una de cada ocho personas con extracci�n dental present� complicaci�n, siendo la alveolitis la m�s frecuente.
